The Mayfair steamer trunk has a secret - it hides a complete office! Furniture maker Timothy Oulton of London redesigned this antique steamer into a secretary - displaying a desk, file cabinets, bookshelves, and cubbyholes. And when you’re tired of looking at your office, roll one of the sides and close it, and voila! it becomes a vintage trunk.

The outside of the trunk is covered with aniline-dyed leather and aged to give it the vintage look. The trunk’s edges are studded with brass nailheads and decorated with cast-metal hardware. Available at Restoration Hardware, the Mayfair steamer gives any office instant drama and organization.

Okay, you’ve seen the photos. You’ve read the stories. And you’re still probably wondering, what kind of style did that wedding have, anyway?

The photo we’ve led with on this post is from TMZ. It’s reportedly a shot of the goods from the gift bag given to guests at the wedding.

The wedding photo we’ve seen the most, online and in print, is this great shot by Genevieve De Manio, which we found at the New York Times online.

So we know the dress is Vera Wang, and we know that Chelsea has grown into her features, which now making her look strikingly beautiful as opposed to horsey as she did as a teenager.

We know there was a phalanx of white chairs set in front of the Astor Palace, we see she carried a simple white bouquet, we know it was a picture-perfect day for an outdoor summer wedding. But now that the dishes are cleared and the floor is swept, could some enterprising cub reporter please ferret out some details, like the style of the invitations, or the color scheme of the reception? Guest gift bags? If Chelsea’s wedding is going to influence the style of weddings for next summer, we need to know!

Are you tired of looking for love and relationships? If so, the layout, furnishings, and energy of your home and bedroom could be part of the problem. When the areas of your home affecting your love life are cluttered, missing from your floor plan, or suffering from sha chi (harmful energy) it can be difficult to find and maintain a good relationship.

This is a good time to get rid of any clutter blocking the path from the front door of your home to the door of your bedroom. This will help keep the energy in your bedroom fresh and strong. In feng shui, the symbolism of what we see is very important, so make sure your bedroom says “romance” in some way. Focus on these areas: 1) what you first see when you enter the bedroom; 2) the wall across from the foot of the bed; 3) the relationship area of the room (the right-hand corner on the side of the room opposite the door, and/or the SW sector).

For the visual to attract love, you can put mannequins of a male and female in your love sector, like Shirley and Hank in the picture. Traditional romantic symbols such as hearts, cupids and pictures of happy couples always work well too. A faceted feng shui crystal hung in the relationship area or over your bed. Look for opportunities to group objects in pairs, such as placing 2 pink or red candles or a bud vase with 2 red flowers on your bedside table.

In case your summer reading hasn’t included a good dose of gossip columns, you may have missed the news from the Clinton family: Chelsea’s tying the knot this week. And what a knot it will be. Despite reports that the family wants to keep the event low-key, there’s not much you can do when the daughter of a former U.S. president and current secretary of state goes down the aisle.

Of note, the only thing the photos here have to do with Clinton’s wedding are that they are wedding photos, taken at someone else’s wedding. We hate to admit it, but Stylehound has no insider info on the affairs of the Clinton family.

Chelsea Clinton will be marrying Marc Merzvinsky this coming Saturday, in a ceremony estimated to cost between $3 and $5 million. But just what that money’s being spent on remains a mystery, as little is known about details such as style of dresses, color schemes, or floral arrangements.

One thing is for sure: once the ceremony and reception are over and the details of the event are gradually leaked out, Clinton’s choices are bound to influence wedding design for the coming year. So keep watching—and Stylehound will let you know what we learn.

No, that doesn’t mean we were invited.

It’s July and it’s hot, so this month’s Designer Monthly is focused on our favorite antidote: the ocean, in all its cool blue glory.

We kick off the issue with a special interview with Adele McGann, and continue with great articles inspired by the sea. Shades of blue and green make their way into our pieces on Color and eco-friendly Green design, and the joys of beach living are explored in articles about colorful cabanas and beach weddings. We get a little more elemental about water and salt in Room of the Month and Feng Shui, and complete the round-up with a great profile of a Florida-based interior designer, Sheffield student Mirian Oliveira.

In a city cramped for space, New Yorkers have always been inventive in finding ways to “create” more room. One way was to add temporary walls and thereby creating another bedroom to an apartment. These temporary partitions helped many young adults get a toehold into an expensive Manhattan real estate market. Unfortunately, they’re also illegal.

After a 2005 fire where the firefighters died because they couldn’t get out of these makeshift rooms, the Department of Buildings began to crackdown on these illegal walls forcing many tenants to rearrange their living situations.

One solution is to use bookcases to separate the space. Another is the room divider. LOFTwall from Texas created these customizable partitions using a variety of materials and colors. At the recent ICFF furniture fair in NY, LOFTwall displayed a new “cheesehole” divider, pictured on the front page. Other dividers have removable panels that can be replaced with a variety of designs to complement the room. For more information, check LOFTwall’s website.
