I Want One!—The Real McCoy

Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 5:47AM This week, we're featuring these great kitchen chairs, sent in by Stylehound's own Wedding Belle. Seems she was able to score these two vintage Shaw-Walkers.

One note about buying vintage kitchen chairs: before investing, see if anyone is currently making knock-offs. If so, you're in business, because then when you're ready to add to your collection, you can add with reproductions if you can't find the originals. But you know what's really surprising? You cannot, afterall, find information on any-freaking-thing on the Internet. I've searched for Shaw-Walker, and can't get the history, except that it was an office furniture company that is now out of business. I even talked to a guy in Pennsylvania who used to be a Shaw-Walker dealer. "Nope," he said, "I think they're out of business." "Do you have any phone number for them or anything?" said I."Oh, no, we haven't had an invoice from them in years," he said. "But if you need any other office furniture..." Anyone out there know the history of Shaw-Walker and its industrial modern design?
