Mind If I Slip Into Something More....Leathery?

This just up at Patricia Gray's blog: an entry on leather slipcovers. When we first saw this, we thought, Huh? it just seems weird---aren't slipcovers supposed to be either your grandmother's chintz or a tidy white cotton duck? And in either case, isn't the point of slipcovers to protect the furniture from Kitty's claws and Junior's muddy sneakers? How could leather slipcovers possibly work?

And then, when you look at the photos, and give it a little thought, this is clearly one of those forehead-clapping ideas, at which you say, Why didn't I think of that?
