My Big Fat Front Hall, Part Two

Sunday, July 19, 2009 at 7:00AM Okay, my first job was to get an old-fashioned wall phone, something I’ve wanted for years, since realizing that each new improvement in telecommunications brings the quality of sound one step closer to that of two orange juice cans and a string. Plus, I wanted to make room on that tiny table---and even if eventually I get a larger table, I could use the room.
So I asked the handyman in my building to install this wall phone, which I got online at Smithgear: http://www.smithgear.com/

The phone was $50, the extra-long cord was $10. The installation, with parts, was $100.
I also turned the table to face the other way, which seems to help a lot.
I want to buy something else to put where the book shelf is, but that’ll put me back. I’d also love to replace that little white cabinet, with something like a red lacquer antique. But did I mention doing this on the cheap is one of my goals?
Spent so far: $160.
