Design, Viva Las Vegas

Monday, February 22, 2010 at 12:39PM Las Vegas definitely wants to show the world that it's not only about gambling. They opened the Las Vegas Design Center (LVDC) a few years ago and added another showroom building. The design center, when completed, will be the largest trade show complex in the world.
Many familiar vendors are there, including Ethan Allen, Kreiss, and Robert Allen. The LVDC hosts bi-annual home furnishings trade shows as well as First Fridays - special seminars from top designers - held every month.
Besides LVDC, Vegas recently opened City Center, co-designed by several star architects such as Frank Gehry, Rafael Vinoly, Pelli Architects, the Rockwell Group, and Norman Foster. City Center is comprised of several hotels including the Mandarin Oriental and Aria plus a retail complex called the Crystals - pictured below.
Inside the Crystals is a spectacular restaurant called the Mastro's Ocean Club. The restaurant is suspended over the central atrium area and open to onlookers.
