Homestyle your Pad

Autodesk, the big CAD computer software company, has come out with a free software for the designer in you. With the Homestyler, you can create 3D versions of your own residence and reimagine its transformation - all without spending a penny or breaking a sweat.

You can enter your own measurements, or you can choose an existing floor plan from their gallery, and using their drag-and-drop interface, quickly add furniture and furnishings. There is even a landscaping feature should you decide to redesign your backyard. If you ever wanted to know how an additional wing to the house would look like or how your dream house will appear, this is a great opportunity to find out.

For more information go to Homestyler.  Below is a 3D image of a kitchen I quickly designed in Homestyler.

Haven't tried this software. But I'm gonna try to use it to design my new expansion building. It's shameful to say that I used to design my home (primary building)using paper and pen (lol)

Hey Alexia, great blog post, short and sweet with a great link to the software site. I'm impressed with the free version, can't say I'm an architect, but am a builder / remodeler that uses softplan and does a lot of design-build work in Atlanta, GA. Softplan has been great, but at $3,500 is way out of range for home owners, hobbiests, students, etc. You can check out some of the custom homes we've designed and built with softplan at www.affordablecraftsmen.net , great if you have any comments or advice on our blog since we're relatively new to blogging :-) I have a mind to download this free software and see if I can draw one of these precious projects with it... If so, I'll come back and let you know how it goes. Anyways, thanks again for the great post and info, let me know if you ever need builder / remodeler input for a post, and I'll be back to see what else you've posted!
